John Hancock Insurance Agency Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do John Hancock Insurance Agency Travel Plans Cover Covid?

John Hancock Insurance Agency has plans that include coverage for Covid-related medical costs and trip cancellation. If you need to cancel your trip prior to departure because you contracted Covid, these plans reimburse you for 100% of what you lose in non-refundable and pre-paid deposits. If you contract Covid during your trip, these plans can cover the medical expenses.

Do John Hancock Insurance Agency Travel Insurance Plans cover pre-existing medical conditions?

You can get a pre-existing medical condition exclusion waiver from John Hancock Insurance Agency. It’s a good idea to check your policy details to confirm this coverage. When you have this important waiver, pre-existing conditions won’t be excluded from coverage. For example, John Hancock Insurance Agency’s Gold plan will cover pre-existing conditions if you buy the plan within 14 days of your first trip payment. Your policy must be the first and only policy issued for your travel dates and destination. You also must be medically able to travel at the time you buy your policy.

Do John Hancock Insurance Agency Travel Insurance Plans have “cancel for any reason” coverage?

John Hancock Insurance Agency offers the option to upgrade to “cancel for any reason” (CFAR) coverage on some, but not all, of its plans. For example, residents of New York may not be able to add this upgrade. CFAR coverage gives you the ability to cancel for a reason that is not listed in your plan’s base trip cancellation reasons and receive some reimbursement of trip costs. For example, you could cancel your trip simply because the weather forecast doesn’t have enough sunny days. Make sure you check the rules for CFAR for the plan you’re buying. For example, the Gold plan will reimburse 75% of non-refundable trip costs under a CFAR claim. But you need to add CFAR within 14 days of your initial trip deposit and you must cancel no less than two days prior to your departure date.
